How to get better results from Gemini prompts

What you will be able to do

You will constrain Gemini with a speech act, a minimal grounded context, and a missing-slot token ([NEED]), then run a second tighten pass before a human send.

Why “be professional” fails

An underspecified polish request fills empty slots with plausible commercial terms: a waived fee, an unapproved time, a policy that was never provided. That is a missing-slot failure. See invented facts.

The Gemini Apps Privacy Hub states that these apps can present inaccurate information as factual. Style adjectives are not a control. The same order of work is documented for other assistants in Claude prompts and ChatGPT prompts, and for mail in customer emails.

The pattern: Job + Facts + [NEED]

1. Job (one sentence)
Confirm Thursday 2pm coil cleaning and ask them to move the car. Follow up on Tuesday’s quote with one yes or no. Draft exclusions from the rate rules.

2. Facts (smallest set)
Required labels; dates and times; an already approved price or range; an existing rule; one next act.

3. Guardrail
“Do not invent facts. Mark anything missing as [NEED].”

4. Second pass
“Tighten. Cut filler. Keep every fact. One ask.”

If the source is a Drive file, attach or select that file and still require [NEED] for any claim the file does not contain — Workspace files.
