Get better Gemini drafts with job, facts, and [NEED]

What you will be able to do

You will run a Gemini prompt that starts with the job, lists only the facts Gemini must not invent, and forces [NEED] on anything missing—the same discipline Deeplathe uses for customer email.

Why “be professional” fails

Ask Gemini to polish a note with no job and no facts, and it fills the holes with kindness: a waived fee, a time you never offered, a policy you never approved. That is a missing slot, not a personality problem. See when Gemini invents facts.

Google’s privacy help says Gemini Apps can present inaccurate information as if it were fact. Tone instructions do not close that hole.

The pattern: Job + Facts + [NEED]

1. Job (one sentence)
Confirm Thursday 2pm for the coil cleaning and ask them to move the car. Follow up on Tuesday’s quote with one yes or no. Draft the exclusions section from our rate rules.

2. Facts (smallest list)
The labels you need; dates and times; a price or range you already approved; a rule that already exists; the one next ask.

3. Guardrail
“Do not invent facts. Mark anything missing as [NEED].”

4. Second pass
“Tighten. Cut filler. Keep every fact. One ask.”

This is the same loop as customer emails, Claude prompts, and ChatGPT prompts. One shop habit, whichever assistant is open. If the source file is already in Drive, you can point Gemini at that file and still require [NEED] for anything the file does not say — see Workspace files.

Voice: clear, calm, local. No hype. No invented policy.

Then: Tighten under 120 words. Keep every fact. One ask.

What not to dump into the prompt

Whole threads, card data, charts, and unused context give Gemini more places to guess. Extra material is not extra help. Sensitive rules live in data safety.

A Gem makes the pattern stick

Put voice and “never invent price or policy” in a Gem. Keep today’s job and today’s facts in the message. Frozen rules, fresh facts.
