Personal Gemini — Free, Plus, Pro, Ultra

Free: one operator validating a workflow in Gemini Apps on a personal Google Account.

Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra: individual subscriptions. Google’s plan pages describe higher usage and, on paid cards, Gemini in Gmail, Docs, and more. Pro is the common individual step up. Ultra is the higher-access tier on the subscriptions page. Plus is the additional consumer tier on the Google AI plans page. Feature lists move. Read the card at purchase time.

Mismatch: multi-user company Drive, org-wide Gemini enablement, or mail on a verified domain. Personal subscriptions do not replace a Workspace admin console.

Google Workspace with Gemini

Fit: multiple users on the organization’s Google Workspace account, shared Drive, central billing, and an admin who can enable or disable Gemini.

The Workspace with Gemini document lists the Gemini app plus in-product assistance, including the side panel in Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, and Chat. Edition matrices on the compare page show unequal Gemini feature access across Business Starter, Standard, and Plus. Enterprise is the edition family for controls Google does not put on Business. AI Expanded Access is the documented add-on for higher capacity.

Mismatch: a solo weekly test. Do not buy an organization plan to imitate a personal login.

Decision path for a local service business

1. Single tester, personal account → Free, then a paid Google AI card when limits bind.
2. Single heavy user, no org admin → Pro or another personal paid tier whose live card matches the workload. Ultra only if that card’s higher access is the requirement.
3. Multiple users, company domain, shared corpus → Workspace edition chosen from the pricing and compare pages. AI Expanded Access only when the edition’s listed limits block active users.
4. Regulated records → contract plus counsel. A marketing plan name is not a compliance attestation for the practice.
