You will use ChatGPT’s custom GPTs and editing surfaces to generate a simple interactive checklist, quote worksheet, or mini workflow—without writing application code—and you will still verify every number before the floor trusts it.

Product surfaces (verify in OpenAI help)

• Custom GPTs — reusable configured assistants with instructions, knowledge files, and selected capabilities. OpenAI’s current help gates new creation/publishing to Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspaces; personal Free/Go/Plus/Pro accounts can still use GPTs they can access.
• Canvas — an editing interface beside chat for longer writing and code revision. Prompt with “use canvas” when you need a document surface. Availability can vary by model and rollout.
• Writing blocks and code blocks — editable draft regions and code/preview blocks inside chat. OpenAI’s release notes describe writing blocks expanding for long-form document work as surfaces evolve.

Same operational intent as Claude Artifacts: a reusable helper beside the conversation, with human verification.

• Opening/closing checklist the front desk can tick
• Quote worksheet with your approved ranges and blank [NEED] cells for site-specific items
• Simple job tracker (requested → quoted → scheduled → done) with no customer secrets baked in
• Training quiz from an SOP you already verified

These beat a wall of chat text when the team needs something they can reuse.

What these tools are not

• Not a replacement for your real scheduling or accounting system
• Not automatically correct because the UI looks polished
• Not a place to store card numbers, health details, or passwords
• Not “done” until a person who does the job clicks through every path

Goal: A simple worksheet staff can fill before a proposal goes out.

1. Open ChatGPT (Quotes Project if you have one — Projects guide).
2. Prompt: “Use canvas or a writing block. Build a residential service quote worksheet: customer basics, scope checklist, labor/materials lines, exclusions, next ask. Do not invent prices. Leave price cells blank or labeled [NEED APPROVED RATE].”
3. Click through as if you were quoting a real job. Note confusing labels.
4. Prompt: “Fix only the labeled issues. Keep blanks for anything we must fill from our rate sheet.”
5. If you have Business/Enterprise/Edu rights, save the standing rules into a custom GPT named Quote helper — [shop] so the floor opens the same tool next time.
6. Export or copy the structure into the tool your team already uses (doc, sheet, or CRM note).
7. Have one estimator verify against a real past job.

• Every default number matches an approved rate or is blank

• No fake “standard discount”
